Yadda yadda yadda

Busy, busy, busy.
Yay to everyone who wished me luck on the test. I saw all of the comments right before I went their, and -however lame this might sound - I think they actually made me do BETTER. Seriously.

Last Weekend overview
- 9 am: ISEE
- 2.30 pm: take the subway (bart) to Powell (in San Francisco)
- 3 pm: meet Christine, go X-mas shopping (though the first three purchaces were for ourselves)
- midnight: at the hotel, watching 40-year-old Virgin. A terrible movie, but it's terribly amusing at the same time. One of those so-bad-it's-good.
- 1.30: freak out by convincing eachother that the witch/evil spirit is under the bed.

- 10 am: get up, more shopping.
- 12.30 pm: mom picks me up to go to an open house
- 4 pm: piano recital. Bleh.

- 8 am: school, of course.
- 12.30 pm: go to CPS for shadowing, where my tourguide and her friends label me as, "hella chill".
- 3.30 pm: grocery shopping
-5 pm: dance lesson. :)

It's Wednsday, and I'm still exhausted.
So, how was everyone elses last few days? I'm far too lazy to do homework now, and would love to talk. I want.....*points like uncle Sam* YOU.

Quick update, and - NEW LAYOUT!

It's past midnight so I can't make this very long, and I got up at an ungodly hour to go to the Haight this morning, so I'm tired too. The Urban school was pretty cool, they were having a talent show at assembly so I got to see lots of dancing, poetry readings, etc. Plus, everyone there gets a FREE super high-tech laptop! Too bad it's super expensive...ah well.
Lookie at my NEW LAYOUT! I'm very proud of it, because for the first time I didn't just take someone else's (with their permission, of course). So yes....I had a renewed burst of passion for Miyazaki after watching Princess Mononoke twice this past weekend.

AAAAh, off topic, but my legs hurt SO MUCH. Dance was lots of fun, as usual, but we went really fast, therefore leaving my calves all floppy and achey and sore and....I sound like a whiner now. I'll shut up.

Heeeeeehheeeee, Saaaaraaaaahh, I hope you've been finding LOTS of icons you want....
*cackles ever so mysteriously*

far too much HOMEWORK

Yes, well, read the title. Pretty much sums up the dilemma. Not that procrastinating at *checks non-existent watch* 11:30 will help much. My teacher asks far too complicated questions. I want a stupid English class. Maybe they'd seem easier if I was more awake. Oh well.
This whole "I'm applying to seven high schools and they all want me to write an ESSAY!" thing is starting to get to me. I had two migranes last week (which is part of the reason I wasn't on much). Blech. NOT fun at all.
So...how's NaNoWriMo wrapping up for those who did it? Cramming in the last few thousand, or were you done weeks ago?
There's two people who I haven't talked to in AGES *cough cough Patricia and Noka, cough cough* and many others. You guys must comment NOW! grrrr....

My first not-quite-new-year-but-I'm-getting-a-head-start resolution

I'm going to use this more often. There's often times when I really should update, but don't. So I'm going to try, at least three or four times a week. Weeee! Let's see how long this lasts, eh?

Thanksgiving was the usual, not any better or worse then any other year. It was big though. Thirty people. And I'm the one doing the dishes. Blech.

And now for some MUY exciting news......okay, so it's not that exciting, but I would catogorize it as at least "vaguely interesting". Well, I was browsing the schools section, and found my school pretty easily. There's eight or nine others there, so I clicked around, but I only knew one persion (who turned out to be the older sister of a current sixth grader, who was in seventh grade at EBSA when I was in sixth. Ah. confusing). Most were in college. I was reading one journal (nimue9) and this entry caught my eye.

This is pretty random...

...but does anyone want to go to midtown with me on Sunday afternoon and hear some ancient, polyphonic, sacred a cappella from the Republic of Georgia?

Also, ping! to [info]ladyjaida; when do you want to come by for your clothings? Shall I carry them around with me and meet you somewhere on campus? Please advise.

That's right. I checked (I'm such a loser). THE ladyjaida, writer of The Shoebox project (shoebox_project). I know that's completely and utterly lame, but at the moment, it feels beyond cool.

My time! It's.......GONE!

It's been over a month since I've updated! Pathetic! I'm actually updating now because Talya and Paulina are bugging me about it, but I really should of done it ages ago. So much to tell!
Went to my first concert a few weeks back. AWESOME. UNBELIEVABLE. I heart Nada Surf and Say Hi (I was 3 people away from the stage!).
Masterworks are already freaking me out (ahhhhh! What am I going to DO for it?), and the desperate search for a high school continues.
I directed one of the school plays (!), but now everyone knows how bitchy I am during PMS (poor Harry, he learned the hard way...). The play was totally fabulous and brilliant and perfect, and anyone who was involved with it that is reading this: "AHHHH! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" (I actually went home and got all teary afterwards....partly because of PMS, but I realised how much I'm going to miss my class. Everyone's awesome, even the constantly occasionally immature folk.)
SO.....How've y'all been? I've been catching up with Sarah and Paulina a bit, but other then that, I'm ignorant of current affairs! Talk to me!

P.S. Optimus Prime is my hero.

Pixar and life

Ahhh, a short update on my life. Well, more of a brief summary of the past two weeks and today. It's been school, school, school for me, as well as the great high school hunt. I have NO IDEA what school I'm going to next year. I have to start applying for scholarships too. So I'm busy. VERY busy. I'll try to be on here more, though. I got a myspace too (yes, I finally caved in), so friend me there if you have one. Search "Gwen Harper", or type in my URL (www.myspace.com/madameg - original, huh?).

Well, as some of you probably know, I live about two blocks away from the Pixar world headquarters, which is totally gorgeous. It's covered with lawns and parks and TONS of greenery everywhere. They don't let anyone in most of the time because they don't want any idea's stolen. Seriously. But I got to go in and take some classes, eat lunch, and watch every single short film ever made (including unreleased ones). It was AWESOME.

Also, Simone and I are going to the 924 Gilman street project next week, which is a club/concert place for unknown rock bands. It's really fun, regular hang out for a lot of us. Tickets are 5 bucks each, and yearly membership 2 dollars. But great things have emerged from this place. Green Day had it's first gig ever here (I'm serious, they're from Berkeley). I'm v. excited. Tonight we're having a Bollywood party (Oh YES, Archee). Yay!

Happy Happy Birthday Sarah!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!!!!!!!! According to Terry Pratchett, using this many exclamation points is a sign of insanity...oh well...

I think we all know how wonderful and fabulous and brilliant and cool and AWESOME my dear sister is, but it couldn't hurt to remind her one more time, could it?

I would totally make you an awesome banner thing if I knew how, but I don't, so you must be satisfyed with a picture I found when I googled 'penguin'. Prepare to.....never look at gnus the same way again.

Mucho mucho love to you, dear.

This post is written mainly for Jessica's enjoyment, because she was the one who forced suggested that I read the Watch series. And because she won't tell me about the P&P movie if I didn't post about tonight. But mostly because she's just that cool. =)

IT. WAS. FUCKING. BRILLIANT. And I don't swear easily, but it was AMAZING (note: if the abuse of capital letters bothers you, I suggest you do not read this post). My dad and I didn't get seats because we were pulled over by the police on our way there (our break light was out), but we were the first to NOT get seats, so we had rather good ones on the floor, relatively close to the mike. We waited and waited and waited, then
Talya got there, waited some more (I read Guards! Guards! - I'm almost done!) until....
The bookstore manager came on stage, and said, "He's an excellent author, and has written far too many books to list.....TERRY PRATCHETT!"

He was the funniest speaker I've EVER heard. Seriously. You had to of read some Discworld to get most of the jokes, but he was HILARIOUS. Every sentence had people rolling on the floor. The whole thing was pure, hardcore genius. (I'll post some quotes up later.)

We had about an hour wait to get our books signed (Talya had seven, I had two - I thought that was the limit), but it was totally worth it (I think). Talya and I debated over whether 'Oook' had two Os or three (I said three), ans when Terry Pratchett wrote "Ook" in her book, she turned to me, crying, "SEE? TWO Os!" Then Terry Pratchett calmly signed the next one "Oooook".

All in all, the most brilliant of nights.
Now all that's left is three pages of notes on Chaucer....

That tag thing I was supposed to do ages ago....

Once again, my parents think I'm actually doing my English homework. Coincidence? I think not!

The belated (but eagerly anticipated) 20 random facts! *Ahem*

20 absolutely fascinating facts concerning me....yeahCollapse )

I'm tagging (far too lazy to bother with the usernames).....Paulina, Sarah, Patricia - even though I just found out you're not on my flist!, Cassie (because I would love to get to know you better), Jessica (*grins* sorry to drag you into this dear, you don't have to do it if you don't want to).

Dude.......Mr. G is officially messed up......

I am in total shock. Mr. G (Mr. Goulamovsky, that is) invited me to join the math team. Seriously. He's one weird man, because usually the requirement for the team is to be GOOD at the subject. Now, I'm certainly not bad, but it would be a far stretch to claim the title of GOOD. And of course I'm being forced to join by my parents. But I have to complete all of Algebra I by Febuary. Eugh.

I am currently very jealous of Arch's cane toad socks, for they represent all things fabulous.

I'm supposed to be writing my English essay that's due tomorrow. I'm about half way done. Oh well....

Bay Street adventures

I saw Alex S. yesterday, looking as lovely as ever, and we went to Bay Street. We went into the Gap, and tried on jeans (well, I did. Alex just stood in the stall for a few minutes). So we got free songs on iTunes! YAY! I got a song by The Dandy Warhols and one by Bright Eyes. We were there forever waiting for her sister, so we went to the iMac store and played the Harry Potter game for an hour. It's sad how far we got.
Instead of hopping the fence to the train tracks to go back, we decided to crawl under. As we were clearing a spot, a security guard came up to us, and asked if we were planning to go under. We both put on our most innocent faces and I exclaimed, "EWW! It's way too dirty there! NO WAY!". Alex nodded her agreement in a very girly way. I don't think he fell for it, but he went away. Then we quickly dived into the gap, and ran across the tracks. There was a train stopped on the tracks, so we had to crawl up the side ladder, run over the top, and climb down the other side. Then I tripped on the tracks, but managed to get up okay.

Blah. That was random. I'm still not very far with Things Fall Apart.
